I use Freestyle Freedom Lute to check my BM since 2006.
I also use Freestyle Libre since 2016.
Can any member tell me why the readings are at least 2 mmol different ?
I am new using any Forums.

Your Freedom Lite is measuring actual blood glucose levels and your Freestyle is measuring the glucose levels in the interstital fluids in your skin.

The latter is at least 20 minutes behind blood glucose levels. In addition, you need to consider things like meter accuracy, and the accuracy of the Freestyle sensors. My current sensor seems to correspond quite well with my alternative Glucomen meter, the previous sensor was way out, and telling me I was hypo' when I wasn't!

I can see why the NHS is reluctant to fund it!

Many thanks. How do I know if the Freestyle Libre meter is not faulty?

I would think it's more likely to be the sensor. I've only been using the Freestyle for a few months myself but I've noticed a significant variation in the performance.

Also, sensors may take a few hours to 'settle down' so if you've only just put it on...........?

Agreed. I started using Freestyle Libre in July 2016 and had 9 faulty ones. Although Abbott replaced them, it's such a nuisance I rather not have.
I could sense "Hypos" coming because I could be shaky and have palpitations. Quite often I couldn't hold a pen to write.
The Libre is not perfect, however it gives me an idea of my BM, especially during the night.
