Hi All,

I’m a very newly diagnosed Type 1 (about 4 days ago!)

A bit of backstory: I’d had a bunch of the diabetes symptoms for about a month and it only clicked Sunday evening that all the symptoms combined were indicative of diabetes. So we did a blood sugar test (thanks to my father in law being Type 2 he had a sensor) and the reading came out at 32.7mmol!! Straight to A&E and about 10 hours later I’m out of the hospital with all this new information about my new diagnosis.

I’m still coming to terms with it, I’m 26 so my life has been upended a little with it all, any advice or help you could suggest would be amazing. Also Hi to all the other newly diagnosed people on here

Hi @AnimateRach & welcome to the forum

I have no advice as I’m a T2 but we have lots of great members with T1 who are always happy to help and answer any questions you have

Hi @AnimateRach , welcome to diabetes and to the forum.

I'd start here: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/5-things-any-newly-diagnosed-type-1-should-know.175425/

And then read around, ask all the questions, learn what you can and don't forget to take a break as well!
This is a marathon, not a sprint, no use burning yourself out before you've started.

When reading on the forum or elsewhere, be mindful of the different types of diabetes, things aimed at T2's are not necessarily relevant for you.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on!
