Hi layne56, welcome to the forum, I agree with the other posts about the cereal, cut them out. I am retired too and always had cereal all my life for breakfast, now I have eggs poached / scrambled / with either bacon / mushrooms or tomatoes . please go onto the forum "What Have You Eaten Today" it has meals on there what some of put on daily. Try some of these and then test 2hrs later you will see the difference in the cooked breakfast from the cereal ones. I have changed from semi skimmed milk to full fat milk and have cream in my coffee. Got a lot of this advice from this forum. You will be fine I'm sure stay with us all we will help you. good luck.Hi, I am getting quite depressed about breakfast! I have been given Lixasenitide by the hospital and diabetic nurse has set my Humalog mix to 38 20 24 throughout the day. Blood glucose has been coming down quite well, but now for example, this morning, bloods at 10 then after breakfast (rice krispies/semi skimmed milk) they have shot up to 19 !!! I have changed from cornflakes for a change. I cant eat museli's or any other kind of mixes like that, and the dietician I saw said nothing wrong with what I was having. Any other members got advice for me please
Thank you

Hi layne56, Glad you got the link, you will soon get used to what you can eat, its the portion size that matters as well, I don't eat big platefuls anymore and have got used to it. Yes your right doctors and dieticians are ok but I truly think they need to listen to us diabetics more instead of just giving us advice in their eyes of what to eat and what they think is best or good for us, they are not testing their foods like we have to do. Good luck stay with us you will be fine.Yes i did, but stupidly i Googled it as I thought it was another forum!!!! Durrrrr - my excuse - well erm.... blonde (grey) and turning 60 soon.
Ladybird was kind enough to give me a link to it. I have found it very informative, and now have to really think about what to eat (oh no - the brain has to be used!!) Anymore info about anything is greatfully received, as I am fed up with Nurseies, Doc's Dieticians etc, as they are just causing me so much pain - mentally and physically xxx
