brittle diabetes

hi have diabetes since i was 23 and i am now 47. i have had 2 strokes, high blood pressure and lots more things wrong.
i can not control my sugar levels. i can eat the same and do the same for two days and my sugar levels are both different. i am told i have brittle diabetes could it just be i am allergic to a ingredient in the insulin. at the beginning i was on animal insulin , now on determir and novarapid. any ideas ?

I have had type 1 diabetes since i was 13 im now 43, I have heard diabetic nurses mentioning the saying brittle diabetes but i don't think they like to use it. The thing is when you have had diabetes for many years your body starts to react different i have lost all awareness of hypos, my sugars could go down to 1.9 and to me i feel normal but to my husband he can see that im low, its really weird.
