So I cracked a rib at the weekend Since then I've been getting really high blood sugars day and night. I'm assuming that my body is releasing extra glucose to try and fix the problem in the same way it does when you get ill? Just wondered if anyone else has any experience of this? I've not been as active as usual, but it seems like I'm much higher than I would normally be due to inactivity. I am going to follow sick day rules as of today and up my basal by 50% to try and counter it.

You'd be correct - at a high level, cracking the rib causes pain and inflammation and therefore an increase in adrenalin and cortisol, which drives up glucose levels. It can take a week or two for this to subside.
