Burning sensation on foot

Aylesbury

I am diet-controlled type II.My last HbA1c reading was 46- I had lost weight to achieve that. I am 73.
I have a non-diabetes related problem which is a bunion and osteo-arthritis in the big toe of my left foot.
When just sitting watching tele in the evening I usually have distressing burning sensations in the top surface of my left foot. These seem to be in two places- one in the big toe joint (possibly the o-a?) and one about an inch higher up. They seem to go away when I wriggle my foot , but then they come back again.
I did have some shooting pains in the leg but these seem to have gone when I lost a little weight.
I am trying to have my foot sorted out but when I mention the burning sensations the GP/surgeons hardly respond.
Can anyone help please? Is this burning on the top of the foot typical of diabetic neuropathy?

hi there @Aylesbury
the description you give does indeed sound like neuropathy pain.

I am not familiar with osteo-arthritic pain though.

it would be worth a visit to your diabetic nurse or your GP as there are meds that can be prescribed.
