Hi, just joined diabetes .co.uk, I am a 63 yr old nana i live with my husband brian who is 71 this year (doesnt look it though more like 50) he is never ill good luck to him! I have had diabetes 2 now for ten years it was very good last year my diabetic nurse said its that good i could not call you a diabetic I had lost a total of 2 stone I must say I have never felt better, then unfortunately put all the weight back on, I just love cakes! I have knocked them in the head now. When I go to bed I suffer with terrible cramps and a burning sensation from my ankle to the back of my knee, the pain is excruciating. I am incontinent so when the pain is there I struggle to get to the toilet with my walking stick I use the walking stick because I have a series of falls and feel safer with it!. we live in a bungalow so there is no stairs we have only lived here for 2 years now I had a lot of falls relating to diabetes the doctor said after a series of tests that it could be the nerve endings, he gave me some duloxetine I still fall, but I do not have the burning sensation at the back of my legs.

It does sound like it is diabetes related neuropathy, but only a doctor can tell you this for sure.

What sort of blood sugar levels do you see when you test or have tests done by the doctor?
What medications are you on for diabetes?
