After 47 years of being type1, I’m now experiencing problems with my ANS - mostly BP fluctuations and fainting, also digestive problems. Please help… I’m struggling with normal life these days and I have always been in control of my diabetes. I am a teacher, working 4 days a week but I don’t really feel well enough or safe to do my job. Any suggestions are much appreciated. I’m nearly 57 so I’m looking at I’ll-health retiremen…

See your GP ASAP because you could have some other underlying health issue that you’re not aware of Blood Pressure Heart Thyroid, mines just found I have an irregular heartbeat
to add to my list of aggravating issues that brass me off big time!

Thank you for your thoughts and I’m sorry you’re also having problems. Over the past year I have had many tests to check other conditions and they have all been clear, thankfully. It seems I just have to crack on and put up with this - not easy when it’s so unpredictable

Back in 1985 my GP thought my ANS might have started packing up. I had very powerful adrenaline surges which sparked off diarrhoea and a quickly ignited temper (not normal for me). After 5 days in a strict hospital regime it showed that erratic blood sugar readings had been the cause. Have you had any recent experience of abnormal readings? Certainly not helpful for a teacher. I hope you manage to sort this out quickly.
