hello there. im type 1 diabetic using the medtronic minimed 712 insulin pump. i am very much out of control my blood sugar is between 2mmol and 20mmol dayly. i am very confused about what my humalog insulin basal should be also what my carbohydrate ratio and correction factor should be. i am a 32 year old slim man weighing 70 kg. can someone please advise me because my diabetes medical team are not helping me and am getting very confused. thankyou
Lastly, if you haven't got it do buy John Walsh's Pumping Insulin book. It explains basal settings, bolus rates and everything else to do with using a pump. Have a look on eBay or Amazon
Using a meal with the same amount of carbs on several occasions could help you to adjust the carb ratio.
This link gives some suggestions and how to go about it. You can of course just adjust your normal meals , though I can see the logic of the high gi foods they choose. http://www.leedsteachinghospitals.com/sites/diabetes/food/CarbohydrateTestMeals.php
definitely agree with iHs about the John Walsh book.
