Can I change to a pump?

Hi

I'm on injections at the moment, but I've been thinking more and more lately about getting a pump after reading so many good things about it from other people.

Is it possible to just change to a pump anytime or can I only do it when I can't get my bloodglucose levels under control with normal injections? Because that's what I think my nurse tried to tell me when I mentioned it to her that I was thinking about it.
