Can I make cold but still crispy bacon?

ive never tried this so its a guess, when you wanna make the outside of baked goods crispier, you open the oven door a tiny bit and let the cookies or whatever cool slowly, maybe.... and just maybe you could try baking the bacon on a oven tray and do the same, just a guess it must be possble as ive bought cold crispy bacon in M&S before in a packet

If you cook it crispy it will remain so after cooling.

After cooking the christmas Turkey and removing the crispy bacon from the breast and placing to one side, when I cook my brussel sprouts in butter and chestnuts later on-the cold bacon is crispy enough to crumble into the brussel sprouts.
so if you get it crispy enough in the first place it stays nice and crispy.

Thanks for the tips. I shall make some as crispy snacks then. My local sandwich shop (mmm... Sandwiches..) always seem to make cold soggy bacon so I wasn,t sure it was do- able.

I don't know how they do it, but M&S do an awesome crispy bacon in a pack. 20 or so rashers, all very crispy. You can find it in the chiller section with the cold meats.

Er... I hesitate to mention this, but... er... doesn't the cannibalism aspect bother you? I mean, you are a pig, aren't you?

I mean, I'm a flower. You are a pig.

Drat. Just noticed - someone else beat me to it with the M&S bacon recommendation!

oh i get it,,,, its ok for you to murder and eat a defenceless cauliflower, but not ok for pigs to eat themselves, double standards at work here

@Andy12345

Exactly!

As a plant, I play a vital part in the... er... ecosystem lifecycle circle of life thingy.

You know. Compost heaps.

Animals are different. Mind you, I wouldn't expect you to understand. Clay pigeon murderer!

Ha, I kind of like the turn the discussion has taken ...

But I was intrigued by the heading so checked in - and there is no way I can make cold but still crispy bacon ... hmm (I guess some prior cooking/frying process will be involved).

annelise

- and please save the clay pidgeons - is there a petition around which I may sign?

Even pigs love bacon.

I'm Douglas the Lurpak Butterman and I LOVE Bacon! Gimme Gimme Gimme!

Crispy cold bacon is doable, I use streaky and fry it good and proper, cool on a piece of kitchen towel and it'll stay crispy then...

Clay pigeon and compost heap stuff... No comments...
