I have been VLC and exercised for over 20 years and now use insulin at 52 years old. . So no, diet and exercise doesn't prevent this situation in some people. I controlled it for years but it came to an end. Please don't infer or insult me that it was my fault. Do some more research please
Good for you but for some of us diet and exercise isn't the only answer.
I should have replied to the op instead of just typing. It was not at all directed at you. I get tired of people saying if you just eat this orthat you will not have diabetes. Oh, I wish it were that simple....If you read my post as an insult to YOU, you may want to RE-READ it. I specifically stated that it does NOT apply to 100% of the population,---that I have been using diet & exercise for 2+ years successfully but there are NO GUARANTEES, which means yes, it could come to an end. I am sorry if you think this was an attack, but I don't see how you could possibly interpret it that way.
I am going to change the title of your post as you are inferring that diet alone will cure diabetes.Hi
I do not have diabetes but have another sugar related problem. I have been controlling my problem for about 8 years by eating a diet which (for my genetics) means I do not produce insulin. I have postulated that since I can do it a diabetic should be able to do it. I recently read that this has been tried and has worked for about 2 years. I am saying it has worked for me for about 8 years and that my genetics infer that when we were hunters we would usually go without insulin except for rare occations.

when we were hunters we would usually go without insulin except for rare occations.
I shouldn't get too hung up about the Hunter Gene that the OP refers to. Apparently that idea comes from a discussion the OP had with a relative, and is a 'working hypothesis'. The Op does not appear to have had any DNA testing to collaborate his theory, but seems to be trying to fundraise for further research into it. The OP is a low carber , and is currently using strict Atkins diet to control a condition they observe. Most of the postings are in respect ot weight gain/ weight loss being dependant on insulin, but OP does not appear to be monitoring bgl. Not clear if Atkins is the original high protein version or Atkins#2 with Low Carb emphasis. If you check out the OP's other posts, there seems to be a common thread to them and I'm never quite sure why he keeps posting variations of the same theme when there have been many responses to past threads. I've previously asked for more information about this "hunter gene" the OP keeps referencing, but still haven't received an answer. I'm at a loss as to what the OP actually wants from this forum since he says he's not a diabetic yet seems to think we will have answers for him.
