Cannabis use and diabetes

I missed this thread, and I did wonder if any other T1's were into this vice...

Personally, I'd say one of the hardest things a diabetic has to do is ignore the pizza & cake shops when in Amsterdam on a stoner trip
not been to Amsterdam for that but there again would be nice to go. the only reason gets the munchies is because the sugar goes when u get the munches that's why people eat all that stuff you said. well, i don't do it to get stoned i do it to regulate the sugar leaving my body which i control,., with cannabis. so it lowers sugars listen , IT WORKS FOR ME END OF OK

I live in the US, in a state where cannabis is legal, so the social stigma is much lower here.
I believe if it helps you with pain, BG, or release of anxiety, then by all means use it. My biggest objection is to smoking it; it creates the smoking habit, which is really tough to break.
I have a friend who lives in a state where CBD and cannabis are not legal. He has a nerve condition in addition to non-diabetic neuropathy and struggles daily with pain. The state where he lives also has shut down most pain clinics in response to the "opioid crisis." When I go visit, I bring him CBD and it really helps.
So, to be pain free? Absolutely. Use it in good health.

Just so you know, smoking increases ones risk of laryngeal cancers and can be bad for your lungs.

Most legalization is being done for healthier marijuana. Its quite difficult to say if since you use it socially and occasionally that the above risks are then abolished.

It would be wise to speak with your doctor

But uncontrolled pain and/or chronic anxiety can damage mental health and in some instances that's even worse than some lung damage. Who cares about your lungs if you're too mentally unwell to even want to live another day? That's how it is for some people and cannabis helps them cope. Vaporizers can help eliminate toxins from smoke and lets not forget there are many ways of consuming cannabis.

Agreed legalized cannabis is better, but from a UK point of view speaking to a GP is useless because they're not allowed to prescribe it, only a specialist can and even then the restrictions on who they can give it to are ridiculous. The UK mentality on cannabis is very outdated.

As outdated as the Cheech and Chong films I've watched this lockdown

I was a drinker when diagnosed and had to quit because the alcohol really messes up your numbers. so here in USA CA, its legal and a lifesaver to me. you can have a social thc cocktail (no sugar) and i feel great. i just take a medicated ***** or infused drink and dont feel left out! it helps with my anxiety, depression and sleep. i have no shame whatsoever about my MJ use as its better than booze or other prescription devils.
