Can't face LCHF

I started on Tues evening with a bout of vomiting and diahorrea (sorry for the detail). Hadn't eaten since lunchtime. My husband called out paramedics as no doctor on call and I was in a bit of a state. Along with other obs she measured my BM and it was 9.2. I'm prediabetic and my fasting BM is 5.6 - 5.9. I can't face my usual food at the moment only craving is a piece of brown toast and butter. I'm assuming BM was high because of an infection - any advice anyone

Have one slice of toast and butter see if it stays down, monitor your sugars.

Did the medics diagnose the infection?

Sounds like it might be norovirus.. I'd hold off eating until you feel like it..great way to start a weight loss fast if you have some pounds to spare..

Sorry to hear you are feeling so ill!

All the usual BRAT recommendations https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BRAT_diet aren't very helpful for T2s. I mean, keeping bg low when ill is one of the best things we can do to help our bodies to heal.

So nowadays (and as the veteran of a couple of bouts of Norovirus over the last 10 years), I heartily recommend Chicken Soup.
It is, after all, the universal panacea

Depending on how ill you feel, and how much your husband is willing to pamper you, there are a whole range of options,
- chicken broth, which is just a stock cube in a mug with boiling water
- real chicken broth made with real chicken stock
- broth with diced chicken in it
- broth with diced chicken and veg in it
- broth with an entire roast chicken dinner + a knob of butter, blended into it with a hand held stick blender

I usually start with the broth option and work my way back up to solid food.

If you decide to go the tinned chicken soup route, then keep an eye on the carbs, but Campbells Cream of Chicken has approx 7g carbs/100 g, which most low carbers can tolerate, especially when recovering from a near death experience!

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks everyone for your replies. @Brunneria chicken broth & soup sounds just right - takes me back to childhood when not feeling so good and mum wrapped me up on the settee, feeding me Heinz chicken soup whilst 'Watch with mother' was on the box. Showing my age now haha
