Hello. Newish type 1 diabetic, wondering if any one could help, I'm about to inform the DVLA and renew my car insurance! Bit overdue but needs doing now, Any advice is welcome

Shouldn't be any issues. The DVLA will send you a medical form to complete and if no issues will renew your license for three years. You need to tell your insurance company, but that's it. They aren't allowed to impose any additional premiums.

Likewise, you can continue to drive until you have received either your three year license or been told one will not be issued.

I found when I've done "experimental quotes" i.e. filling a play form out & saying "no medical conditions" it usually only comes out about £50 a year cheaper so it's not too bad

How long have you been driving/how many NCB do you have? Obviously they make a difference for everyone, but it seems to me I get extra points for being sick & having wracked up loads of NCB...maybe they think I'm more reliable because I haven't had a hypo at the wheel & crashed??
