Hi guys

I've read enough about this on other threads and never experienced it as I just plough on with LCHF regardless. Until last nite .... I could have killed for a packet of crisps, some KFC, a block of chocolate ... ANYTHING !!!

I resisted and just drank more water and thought nothing more about it. That said, I'm coming to the realisation that my slow improvement in dealing with T2 (pains gone, little or no trembling in the mornings, a more positive outlook etc etc) is due to my age (I'm 60) and the carb craving which should have come and gone weeks ago has just suddenly hit me. That make sense?

Cheers Mike

KFC can be ok for you. In the UK, 3 mini Brest fillets are 22g per 100g. Check out the web site for nutritional info.

Thanks NH ..... the fear of what it might do scared me to death so i stayed true .....

22gm per 100gm looks high to me, especially as there isn't any fibre?
Depending on your diet, it could be. However depending on your diet not necessarily. Or ok for a treat now and then. Or how you tolerate KFC.

Mike ,its like stopping smoking, it takes a long time to get rid of an addiction. Carbohydrates are also addictive, so its the same procedure, you turn your back on them and as the time passes things get easier.
As more time passes you will not want to lose all that you have struggled so hard to correct.

Thanks guys.

As I said, I resisted. For me, that marked a sign of strength and / or a slow onset of crab craving ... or both .....

Hated it I can tell you. But as our good friend brunneria always says, it's a choice. Thanks heavens for my wife, my stubborn nature, and of course, my mates here.

Nite all Mike

Thanks for the temptation NOT

Yet another meal I would kill for right now .... a pizza or a lasagne. You are a cruel person NH
google LC pizza base and eat them every day
I also have a lc lasagne strips but you have to be able to eat gluten

Not experienced that myself but.for people who had a real sweet tooth sugar was an addiction so craving sugar stuff from time to time is not unknown

Coffee is something that has been spoilt for me I loved coffee and drank more of that than tea and I had 1/2 a teaspoon of sugar in it. When I stopped sugar coffee without it was not nice so one day I tried it with the sugar again but it tasted horrible sweetners were not the same so now I drink tea never did have sugar in that

Thanks Annie but coffee's a no no as is tea for me. Makes the heart race a bit.

One thing I will say to you Mike is, if at some time in the future you decide you will have something you might normally avoid, please do test around it. If it induces a glucose sky-rocket, at least you know and can decide whether to eat it again. If, on the other hand, it's not too bad, at least you know you can add it to the naughty, but nice, once in a blue moon list (or whatever you have).

If you go for it, please don't go for it with your head in the sand.

That's not encouraging you to carb up, it's just planning an educational experience if you do.

Thanks Dibbles

Yep AB, wouldn't dream of not doing it

Best for the weekend

Mike

Lasagne made with sliced celeriac instead of pasta strips is low carb and very filling with lots of cheese sauce and a very savoury meat filling .It kills the carb cravings and helps the feeling that you can be in control of the dreaded DB

I have to agree about the lasagne I had it the other night and I was surprised how my reading stayed below 8.
Keep well Mike.
