Hi all. I have a newbie question.... I'm trying to have low carbs, and I see people mention grams of carbs on here. What amount is a starting point for someone lowering carbs in grams? When I check nutrition info, do I look at total carbs or carbs that sugar?? Does this make sense?
I eat berries every day, but see how they go with testing to be sure. I eat about 50g carbs a day and if I even look at pasta, I swear it affects my BGs. Just kidding, what I mean to say is pasta spikes me a lot. You may well find the same thing when you test. I have dumped all pasta, rice, potatoes, bread and cereals and I feel great for it.Thanks all. I've been having one meal that contains carbs, 50g of w/m pasta for instance. Am I better just dumping it altogether? My monitor is on its way, so haven't a clue at mo of bs. The other meals or snacks I have I try to avoid the carbs. For instance Greek yogurt for breakfast, then a protein-y lunch like chicken breast or smoked haddock, with veg. Snacks are currently nuts, Philadelphia with lettuce, or handful of berries. Can I have berries on a daily basis, or are they more of a once a week thing?
you can find out by googling the name of the food followed by "carb".How is quinoa for carbs? Is there a list anywhere of carb values for veg? I've been swapping potato with squash but don't know the values! I'm sorry for the silly questions - I'm such a newb.
