CGM advice please

Last night late on my finger prick read in the 4s for the first time and early bells this morning it was over 7 so I think now I'm four weeks in its time to have a nosy at what goes on during the night with a CGM. I looked at the free trial for the libra 2 but the app does not appear on my phone (an android samsung galaxy A13) and it says it is not compatible with this device. I was talking about it in work and a colleague who has a son with diabetes says she has a bundle of unused libra 2s I can have. That almost makes it worth buying a new phone. Welcome your thoughts.
 
However did they come by a bundle of Libre sensors ?

I didn't ask too many questions and remember I dont really know what I am talking about but apparently her son has recently been given a pump and changed from libre 2 to dexcom and there are leftovers. I dont know if the bundle is 2 or 22.

Hi@Antje77 That would have been typical for me but it absolutely says it is not compatible

Oh, that really is unlucky!
You could ask between your friends if someone happens to have an old smartphone laying around and gathering dust. If you're lucky you could use it just for the Libre.

I would hope it's only 2 , at £50 a go they need to be used .

I have a stash, of which I sometimes give one or two to people I think would greatly benefit from it.

I self funded for years before I got them funded, and they were much less expensive in France than in my country.
So I had people going to France on holiday buy them for me.
And then they suddenly got funded much quicker than expected, leaving me with a good stash, so very nice during the time of shortages, and if needed to help someone out or to help the occasional T2 (not funded) getting insight in how food affects their BG.
If I don't give them away, the stash will simply grow: every time a sensor goes wrong halfway its life you get a new one, effectively giving you extra sensor days.

As it happens my connection's husband had already given them to a workmate so its back to the little black book
 
I was going to post "who knew the Libre black market was so big!" - however, from the looks of this thread, the answer is "just about everyone but me!"
 
I was prescribed a Libre 2, but after opening the box to find some more details about it, found that it didn't support my phone (also a Galaxy A13 and bought new 6 months earlier). Luckily the consultant recommended a change to a Dexcom ONE. There are various threads on forums here about Libre dropping support for this phone at the beginning of this year.

Interesting. When I changed CGM, I was told I had to go use my Libres first. Annoyingly, one failed and I got a replacement so it took even longer to get the benefit from my new "toys".
It has always been the case - when I get something new on prescription such as different insulin or CGM, I am told to use up my old supplies rather than waste them (or give them away).

It's a shame our poor old NHS is having to pay for this , perhaps one day they will say enough of this you'll have to buy it yourself if you want one !

This thread left me feeling a wee bit uncomfortable and guilty that a colleague had offered me spare sensors. Her young son is T1 , he was moved from libre2 to dexcom by his team. She asked what she should do with the extra sensors and was told just to dispose of them. We both thought passing them on was more sustainable (even though it wasn't me who ended up with them)
I wish there was a shoulder shrugging icon.
 
Passing them on must be the best option ! but to just dispose of them , WHAT .
 
If T2s can learn so much from them perhaps they could/should be prescribed just a few,?
I find the info from mine invaluable, and even though I've learned lessons, the odd one to help maintain motivation is really helpful.
I too hate to waste anything
Not to detract from the needs of T1s of course
