Change of Insulin

Hi, I am type 2 and have also posted this on the type 2 Forum but someone suggested I might get a better response here!!

I have been on Lantus Insulin since Sept 2011 and am currently on 28 units.

My BG is still poorly controlled and my DNS has now prescribed me Humalin M3 70/30 mix 10 Units twice daily to start, and the DNS will Titrate as needed, which I will probably commence over the weekend or Monday at the latest. Is anyone here on this insulin type? and if so what is your experience of it?

Thanks
Mervyn

Hi Mervyn

If you are still producing your own insulin, you might want to explore one of the newer diabetes drugs such as exenatide (Byetta or Bydureon). These are often prescribed with insulin users who are type 2 and may enable you to reduce or stop using insulin.

Not quite what you asked about but hope it helps

Regards

Doug

Thanks for the reply.

May well discuss this with my DNS. I think she is a little perplexed and not sure what steps she intends to take if this Insulin does not do the jobe either!
I was quite prepared to keep upping the Lantus until I got some sort of control, but she did not want that, hence trying me on Humalin.
