Is it possible to change sites any time you want to during a week. The reason for asking is that when James was on two injections per day, he was told to keep to one area for a week before changing.
eg leg one week, tummy another week, arm another week then back to leg etc.
James wants to change from his legs (breakfast and tea) for a while (some bruising) so I said that I would help him and inject the arms for him. The only reason for changing maybe on a daily basis is that I may not be around sometimes when Mum comes over and I have to go to work leaving James still in bed. I do not want to put my mother (who is 82 but does not look or feel it) in that situation as she has said before that she would not be confident to do it for him (which I accept).
Hello,
Changing sites is good as it should stop him getting lumpy areas, I'm sure that will be fine but you must be aware that different sites have different rates of absorption. You may need different ratios for different sites, or he might need to wait a little bit of extra time before eating, in some sites.
Let us know how you get on,

Well did the change to arms on the days I was not in work and it worked very well. James managed to have supper, no novo for supper, lantus before bed, lie ins, morning injection in arm and absorption was a lot better. Took last week off work before school started, carried on with arm, again brilliant readings. Now gone back to school and here we go again, high in the morning so it's tweaking again. It never stops does it
Sorry to hear your sons return to school has evoked high readings in the morning.I do hope it settles for you.
I like to use my upper arm if I need my insulin to work faster, my legs make me go low a lot of the time and it always hurts like Hell for me to inject there. My bum is the place for my Basal or if I need a fast acting to be absorbed slower for whatever reason...that ones the tricky one out and about
It sounds like your Boy had good results with his arm site, you will hopefully both work out different absorption rates for different areas....You are right though it is never straight forward. Good luck and I hope his morning BG's come back into line

I'm glad it worked well to start with Yes, you will need to do lots of changing around from time to time- but it should get easier! You may need different ratios/basals for in the week to holidays so it may get easier once you know them both.
Hope you are doing okay
