Cheese consumption

I wrote a post on here a little while ago about cheese Consumption. I do want a lot of cheese every day & from the answers I got back it seems like I'm not alone. I've managed to get hold of a handbook called X-Pert Diabetes version 11. It seems a really useful handbook but if I'm reading it correctly I shouldn't be having more than a matchbox size piece a day? I'm eating LCHF but the portions according to this book are tiny of everything. Has anyone else studied this handbook?

I found that such handbooks make great firelighters for my wood burner.

Cheese is wonderful, low carb, nutritious and taste marvelous.Ignore the book and search for threads about cheese on here : )

I limit my daily intake as I am trying to lose weight, but cheese is my go-to when ever I want to nibble or feel hungry.

I have not read the "handbook".

We buy two to three kgs of cheese per fortnight as it is low carb and high fat, so a win win solution.

My bgls, hba1c, and I have lost weight following a mlchf diet.
 
If you are happy with your weight then eating a lot of cheese is not a bad option.
 
Oh dear that's my issue, I'm far from happy with my weight. I'm 61 I have a 50 inch waist & unfortunately I weigh 20 stone. Mind you I was 24 stone in 2015. If I stayed home all day I could follow the nice 3 meals a day i.e. a small fry up but I don't have that luxury so it's a small box of cheese to last all day & then a cooked meal at night. I do make my own yoghurt (Easiyo) which is my only "treat"

Try cooking meat that you can have cold the next day. Cheese is very energy dense.
 
I have slices of cheese and cucumber. Or cheese wrapped in lettuce, with some salad to nibble. What sort of things would be your daily menu for a typical day? Maybe we can help you tweak it?
 
There's not a day passes that I don't eat cheese and this has been the same all of my adult life. I wasn't overweight at dx and have lost weight on LCHF. If it is "energy dense" then that is a good thing isn't it? I want my energy to come from fats not carbs.

There's probably a clue in the name of the book as to where her current thoughts are on diet. The book also talks a bit about weight reduction.

At over 100 calories per ounce it might be an idea to weigh the cheese that you eat. I have found that the only way to help with losing weight is knowing exactly how many calories you are consuming and to do that you have to weigh everything.

I know that there are many who will say calories aren't important but they quite clearly are for some probably most of us.
 
Speaking of grilled cheese sandwiches, I recently bought some Morrisons high protein bread and ate one thin slice (8g carbs) with melted cheese before bedtime. I was expecting my glucose levels next morning to be higher, but it turns out they were lower than I was expecting. So maybe the combo of a small amount of carbs and protein in the bread plus fat (cheese) acts a a block to the morning glucose dump from the liver. I tried this a second tine with similar results.
