Just had an argument with a Type 2 who is adamant cheese is no good for you!! It is isnt it? Especially on the LCHF

Thought so! I will just let them carry on thinking they are right lol

I suppose it depends on their definition of "good" huni. If they are trying to lose weight then cheese is quite high in calories. They may have other medical reasons for not being able to eat higher fat foods. As has been said so many times before "no one diet fits all" (including LCHF & the "eatwell well plate) I personally eat lower carbs & enough fat to suit me. & I love cheese!!

Smartie xx

Too much of anything is bad for you, as they say everything in moderation...........

He meant any quantity of cheese and isn't on a diet anyway.....xx

Still Nicola you should still try and get your calories from different sources and not concentrate on one, just my opinion.

I guess so! It only started because I said I had a cheese sandwich for lunch!

There are quite a few different perspectives on this.

Milk and cheese can be too much for some people (lactose intolerant).
and Paleo diets, Vegans, macrobiotic eaters, and various others avoid dairy.

Was this Type 2 arguing based on saturated fat, calories, cholesterol, lactose or blood glucose levels?

Me, I eat cheese in moderation, since it doesn't spike me, but too much and I get bloaty and uncomfortable, and brain foggy, so I must be slightly lactose intolerant.

Everything in moderation. Ideally. But then I don't live in an ideal world, do I?

I read a Norweigan study a year or two ago, observational, where those who had nine or more servings of cheese per week had considerably less risk of heart disease than those who ate less cheese.

I'm not sure...he said it's not good for you and then went into what he had for dinner....which involved cheese haha!

I was happy to see cheese wasn't a problem on a reduced carb diet as I have always loved it and never really managed to give it up when I tried to go low fat at the advise of my HCP due to high cholesterol, I even tried the low fat cheeses and they were horrible. I frequently have it for lunch but I wouldn't want it for every meal.

I guess I'll find out when I see the nurse next.

I was a bit surprised when my dietician told me to eat cheese if I was hungry but had above normal blood sugars. Turns out cheese really doesn't have that many calories for the amounts we usually eat. Not good if you've got cholesterol issues but in turns of putting weight on, fat isn't the main cause of what makes people fat. Most of the fat we eat tends to come straight back out the other end and carbohydrates are far more responsible for making us gain weight. Someone could practically live off almost nothing but sweet and sugary products without gaining weight IF they only consumed small amounts at a time or burned the energy off before it gets converted and stored.

Great news, as I am a big cheese lover, all types .I had some Edam today and a small piece of Cheddar with pickle onions and chives in it Lovely

I LOVE LOVE LOVE cheese

last night had mozerella and cheddar on my cauli pizza, Today had some emmental in my salad and tonight plan to have cauli and brocoli cheese with my dinner!

I love cheese, as said you eat it now and again. does not spike me either. The ony things that do, are sweet things. I have lost weight, not happy about that but there you go. cannot have it always.
Eat things, you like, check your bg before and 3 hours after, if ok. you know you are reasonably safe. if you spike, then forget it/
As the other guys had said, you must try these things. and taking one persons word for it is not so good.

These guys on Forum, have been diabetics for years, and they would not guide you wrong. listen and learn.
I have made many mistakes. but I have learnt the hard way. now I take advice from these guys..
they do a good job. They have not given me any cause for condern in any way. Just thankful they are here to help.
