hi everyone i bought bought some chicken and chips today fro local chippy sugar was fine but i notice my sugar is rising 5 hours after meal could this be the protein rising sugar levels?.

I would think it is more a delayed rise from the fat content of the meal as there will have been sufficient carbohydrates in the chips for there to be no need to convert protein into glucose. A little bit like the pizza effect.

I'd guess a slow digest of the deep fried chips.

Next time you could try setting a temp basal (if you use a pump) or giving an extra injection after the meal (if MDI). Alternatively, exercise after the meal to help with insulin sensitivity.

Almost certainly the fat delaying the breakdown of the potato - the liver wouldn’t bother with gluconeogenesis when there’s a good supply of carbohydrate.
