Has anyone seen the new child figure bollards being erected to warn motorists that a school is in the vicinity so to slow down. Well the ones featured on the TV news and in the newspapers the last couple of days are the ones at the schools where I live. The first week they were here people were dressing them up . On a hot day they had sunglasses and hats even sun cream and when it rained they had raincoats and goggles. They were dressed up in different things every day for a week now the fun is over as the children are back to school tomorrow so the figures must remain just in their school uniform like the children. How effective they will be in slowing the traffic we don't know but they have certainly had a mixed reception from the residents who live here some saying they are a waste of council money that could have been better spent others say once people have got used to seeing them they will not slow down anymore and many have said they are just spooky

I saw them in the paper. The do look a bit weird.

Yes, saw them in the paper, a bit creepy.

We live three doors up from a primary school. It has metal railings from the school entrance to the bottom of the hill - a good few hundred yards. The parents disregard these and walk the other side of the railings in the road. ANd the speed they drive up and down this road is disgusting considering the school is there.

Our council have just announced another waste of money which is a little van that will go around the schools and photograph those that are parked incorrectly and then fine them based on number plates. How that works with residents that live here I dont know. Let them fine me for being outside my house
