The advice from Diabetes UK about diabetic chocolates is that they should be avoided. The makers tend to replace the sugar with an alternative sweetener, either maltitol or more usually sorbitol, both of which are laxatives and are only slightly less carbohydrate than sugar! Best bet is to have ordinary chocolate, but in small quantities, just an occasional one.
Your hunger this afternoon was probably down to the fact that beans on toast for breakfast, then just fruit for lunch, is most likely less carbohydrate and calories than your body needs, so you would feel hungry.
