Newbie here. I've just found this site & started testing. Prediabetes. Kiwifruit & bananas makes my BS spike to nearly 12mmol but chocolate, I am happy to say, didn't spike at all! Yay I can have chocolate. In moderation of course. Have you too been this pleasantly surprised?

Hi Cocobee!

I find that on 'good' days I can handle small amounts of sweet things (though to be honest I've lost my taste for them). Bread and pasta send me sky high unfortunately, but it's nice to know every once in a while I can indulge. Very dark chocolate (85%+) doesn't spike me much at all regardless of what else I've eaten that day.

Really though, what I want more than anything else is ginger cake and custard. Man talk about cravings.

I'm not sure I should torture you with this but...

Thank you for that lol about the torture. I've been doing this low carb thing for a short while now & surprisingly no longer craving & because I'm eating more veg & cooking everything & a better diet overall, I am not nutritionally starved anymore. Amazing

Isn't that great!! When we feed ourselves right we're good to go. Cravings, hunger, lethargy, aches and pains all gone. Finding our balance is so important. Whatever it is

I personally find it can't eat chocolate. It makes my bs spike up.

Moser Roth 85% dark chocolate from Aldi.
The best....ever.

I'll have to find some dark chocolate. A square or two would be nice. Do you eat it at the end of a meal?

I generally do so. Favourite is Green and Black's 85 per cent.

Excellent with a glass of red wine at the end of the week ☺
