Hi,
I am sure that there must be thread, about cinnamen lowering Blood glucose, somewhere but can't find it. Does anyone else use it and do they think it works? I have it on my breakfast cereal and my raspberries...don't know if it does work as I have just started a low carb diet and so my BG has lowered due to that.

Hi,
It makes no difference if it is spelt right, nothing appears to come up in past threads. I take it in powder form, but I think it can be bought in capsule form but I have not found them.
As I said before I am not sure that it does work, there has been some research on it according to the internet to suggest it could.

I have type 1 and found that cinnamon did very little in lowering my bg. I used it as much as I could including sprinkling it over my pork chops, chicken etc. Made them taste nice though
Soya milk seems to do something though in lowering bg levels. I get the very cheap stuff in the supermarkets and have a glass in the morning and also mid afternoon. My bg seem to drop fairly quickly about 1.5hrs after drinking it, so now I just reduce my bolus. I have tried not drinking the soya milk and my bg goes up.
You have found every mention of the word "cinnamon" on the forum (I'm surprised there aren't more!). You can do an Advanced Search to whittle it down, or cheat and just go to this recent thread on cinnamon.
Dennis has previously posted on the subject, what you need is the powdered variety you can get in most any store. Warning !! there is concern over ingredients of Cinnamon if taken in large quantities which is why they recomend not more than 1 tablespoon per day. I use it and find it does have a beneficial effect.
I have posted to this type of question before.Google " New Scientist " magazine.Log on to the website.Type cinnamon in the search box and you should find a link to Dr R Anderson, who I think was one of the first to discover the benefits of cinnamon.I think it will only work for type 2's,but it can have some really dramatic benefits.I take it with my oils and yoghurt. 8)
