As retired pensioners, my husband and I enjoy having coffee when we are out shopping etc. I like a flat white or a cappuccino. What would be the best thing for me to eat with the coffee? I am T2, on insulin and tablets. My husband can eat what he likes, lucky thing! It is so hard to resist buns, scones etc. All suggestions gratefully received.
Yes, coffee shops......nothing but carbs carbs carbs... I don't go very often but when I do...I don't have 'nibbles' if there is nothing suitable. Instead I might ask if there is possibility to have coffee with good dollop of cream, whipped of pouring sort and that will be 'nibbles' enough for me. Some places have started to stock up small bars of better quality dark chocolate, which comes handy as that would be quite acceptable for us diabetics with their lower carb content Maybe we should start making more noises about coffee shop's selection of nibbles? I'm sure they would stock something suitable if they can sell it and there is demand for it! Maybe you need to start educating your favourite coffee shop...enquire if they would get something that would be suitable for you and other diabetics (after all, there is plenty of us!)
Other than that...keep some nuts bar/few squares of dark chocolate in you pocket for those hungry sociable moments..
Lol...indeed messy...ah, that's what you get when typing in a hurry...though chocolate coated nuts are nice too!
Just to correct my previous writing...'some nuts and/or a bar/few squares or chocolate'...to keep them in pocket is optional...
