Just a bit of a moan. I usually eat a medium to low carb diet which works well for me. I am having a colonoscopy next Monday and finding the low residue diet difficult as I'm hungry. I don't want to add in white bread, rice and pasta even for that short time as having weaned myself right off them I don't want carb cravings to start again. I'm succumbing to the bananas as the raspberries, blueberries and strawberries with home made granola for breakfast are all out. I know it's only a week so I can cope, just needed to offload a bit.
 
Feel for you, it’s not great food at the best of of times, hubby has had a few of these and although not diabetic he eats low carb. He fills up on eggs, scrambled hard boiled and omelets, cooked chicken, wafer thin ham hard cheeses, broth, he drinks bovril with butter melted in and sugar free jellies with plain yogurt.

If your hungry just have bigger meals of the stuff you can have or even add in a couple of the no carb foods as snacks just whilst your doing this diet. It’s temporary so snacking can go as soon as your back to your normal way of eating. Occasionally our diabetes has to take a back seat and we have to manage best we can.

Surprised you are on low residue so far out - the advice when I had them was from 2 days out at most, so Saturday & Sunday for a Monday examination. In fact the timings I was given varied according to if you were having a morning or an afternoon exam.

BTW I had one with sedation and the second with gas & air, I'd go for gas & air if I ever have to have another one. I was thinking the sedation was like I had for an ERCP - couldn't remember a thing - but it was much lighter. I found the gas & air very effective, plus I was allowed to drive myself home.
 
Last one hubby had to do was 5 days, in the past he’s had 24hrs and 2 days. He’s had quite a few at different hospitals- maybe that’s why because different hospitals have different protocols? Just guessing really lol
 
It does seem to vary depending on the area. My hospital letter says 5 days so i've been very obedient. I don't want to have to do it again because they can't get results. Looking forward to Tuesday's breakfast though!!
 
Take it easy on the breakfast! I’d go light but very tasty - hubby learnt his lesson years ago after the first time wont go into details

Thank you for that. I had my usual Greek yoghurt and a small banana (had to switch from my normal berries for low residue) and a croissant. That was at 7 am; my appointment was at 10.12 the following day but they were running very late so didn't get in until 12.30. I couldn't tell if the shaking was nervousness or hypo until they tested my blood...5.9. But the great news was that there was nothing awful, just diverticular disease, just one more thing managed by diet with the diabetes and hiatus hernia.
