Comfort Food

So I have my first cold/mild flu symptoms of being diabetic. Taking plenty of liquids, paracetamol and sugar free strepsils.

I have that ravenous I'm ill thing going on! What is everyone's go to comfort food that is also LCHF? Obviously orange juice, giant chocolate buttons and canned Heinz macaroni cheese are all off the menu :-(

My recently discovered comfort drink after a walk on a cold day, is to make cocoa using hot water, then adding a slug of double cream. I drink it like that, but you could add sweetener if you wanted.
I also make soup in batches (spinach, cream of celery and chicken) and freeze it so I can just heat it up when I'm feeling tired, ill or sorry for myself.
If I feel really tragic I eat 85% chocolate dipped in cream! Someone recently told me she makes a sandwich with two squares of 85% chocolate with nut butter spread in between too!

I like a thick chicken soup almost stew when in need of a bit of TCL. Chicken thighs, white wine, thyme, garlic, celery, fennel and stock or stockpot simmered or cooked in a slow cooker until chicken is properly cooked. Towards the end add in a lot of cauliflower (frozen is fine) and cook until cauli is done. Remove chicken from pot and take meat off the bone. Blend / process or whiz up the veg soup mix then put back in the shredded chicken plus a drained can of cannellini beans, adjust seasoning and re-heat and serve.

Instead of orange juice I find hot water with a few squirts of lemon calms my throat.

If I don't have a prepared soup, I'm not beyond making one out of a chicken stock cube (I add lots of garlic and ginger to it, plus plenty of mushrooms because I like them and always have some in the fridge, and it's ready to eat in 10 minutes).

I spread almond butter or tahini onto a square of 85% chocolate almost every day, nothing to do with feeling tragic!

Hope you're better soon @trinity0097 !
