I was recently prescribed Amlodipine for my HBP. I am T2, on Insulin, thyroxine, metformin, candesartan, statins and tablets for angina. My legs and ankles are now permanently swollen and my ankles especially are painful. The skin has peeled off my heels. Should I try compression tights? Do they really make a difference?
I am female, aged 74.
Go back to your GP and ask about being prescribed lacidipine instead! My legs especially ankles were so swollen and sore when my dose of amlodipine was doubled. I went straight back to my GP and he changed me to lacidipine. I've had no problems since.
I discussed compression stockings with my GP before I started wearing them.
He got me to get a Doppler Arterial Ultrasound scan at the local radiology shop on both legs done first, then he recommended the correct Jobst pressure stockings for my blood supply.
