I can't understand why they've put weight back on. Those diets are great, you don't feel like you're on a diet. I eat a lot of fruit too. Apart from strawberries and blueberries now and then because the have good properties, I will stop eating it. I hope the LCHF works!Watching the hairy bikers on TV recently, I reckon they've stopped dieting!! Slimming World never worked for me, looking back I can understand, I followed the rules religiously but ate an excessive amount of fruit (all sugar) LCHF is working for me and I only started eating this way as my husband's diabetic, so it was luck rather than good management
They will have put the weight back on because 90-95% of dieters do, unfortunately. I think the LCHF approach puts us in the 5-10% thoughI can't understand why they've put weight back on. I hope you're feeling better now. Is it maybe you didn't have enough carbs during the day? I've had eggs and bacon for lunch. BBQ tonight with saladHi Kim. Have you thought about tryiing the Greek yogurt with some Stevia mixed in to sweeten it? It may help. I had a very low reading in the night (I tested as I felt dreadful) so not knowing quite what to do, I ate a white roll, my levels shot up to 9. I was a bit shocked as yesterday I tried the famous Lidls low carb, high protein roll and it made no difference at all!. A lot of this is testing, testing and more testing lol. I think its a bit harsh to expect you to lose that amount of weight quickly. In my opion and experience, it may come off but it isnt sustainable and will creep back on. Try not to do many things at once

Hi, I really didn't know how I would give up rice, bread and pasta,(thought I was heading for self sacrifice to get my husband healthy)I'm definitely doing the LCHF, I started last night after I got the breakdown of my results yesterday. I need to work it around my husband's eating too. I don't want to be cooking twice. He's half on board, but hates quite a lot of veg. He likes potatoes, rice and bread. I will just substitute these with cauliflower rice, salads etc.
I'm going to be fine with all this. But my husband will struggle. I can't force him. We've been dieting with Hairy Bikers/Slimming World and he enjoyed that. But now things have changed he's not keen. I can't continue with these diets anymore. I think it'll be a work in progressHi, I really didn't know how I would give up rice, bread and pasta,(thought I was heading for self sacrifice to get my husband healthy)they were my staples when meal planning (afterall they were starchy carbs recommended by NHS ) I can honestly say I don't miss them! When I put a plate of steak/ chicken/lamb cooked in butter with creamy cheesy cauli and onions/mushrooms/courgettes (I do different combinations) again fried in butter it looks great and it's filling. I have made a seed bread recipe (delicious) but we don't crave it anymore. I really, really enjoy LCHF food and love all the things I now eat that I haven't eaten for years...butter, skin on the chicken, crispy fat on lamb chops, cheese and cooking in fats to name a few.
yes, diabetes mellitus is the formal name for diabetes of either type. I have seen on some forms NIDDM which stands for non insulin dependent diabetes mellitus.Thank you Bluetit. There's a new system implemented at my surgery which started at the beginning of the month for diabetics. I have an appointment with the Diabetic Nurse on Thursday next week (the earliest appointment they could give me). She will go through everything and give me all the information I will need and will make sure that I understand what I'm going through and give me a booklet on die eyes and other info. I can now have a free eye test, and retina screening. I also found out that I can get free prescriptions now because I'm on medication for it and other medication. I didn't know that. I thought it was just for Type 1 or Type 2 insulin users. I have to fill a form out. I take it that Diabetes Mellitus is Type 2?

Yeah, if I was in that situation I would make 2 meals every night too, as it would be less work and stress than debating the issue.Hi Kim, yes it's hard feeding a man who likes potatoes , rice, flour when these are our enemies! I'm afraid I make two meals every night, my partner is a slim 11 stone so he's not havin salad or any supper with low or no carbs. I think it'll take some getting used to but it's not just a diet it's life or death! X
