Confused & driving my wife mad worrying

Messages

Hi All,

I was diagnosed about a month ago as type 2.
I've been placed on metformin 2x a day 500mg & ramipril 2.5mg once a day , but the doctor is going to up this to 10mg over the next month or so.
My worries are
A near constant head ache
Constant dizziness ,
Nausea
My eyes feel as though they are bursting out of my head

And no matter what I do I can't get my blood sugar below 11 ( and that's with fasting for 24hrs)
My normal levels are 16 in the morning before a cuppa & around 13 around 3pm .

Am I panicking to early or should I be going back to the Dr's

Thanks for your help , advice & support.

Peter .

Hi Peter and welcome to the forum I think, to stop your worrying, that you should go back to your Doctor. Your symptoms are not pleasant and you shouldn't feel like that. This may have nothing to do with diabetes or the medication you are taking. Your levels should be lower too although you haven't been on the medication for long so this will probably improve.

Here is some information written for new members which should help you to gain control of your diabetes. Ask as many questions as you need to as there is always someone here to help.

Hi Peter. The 24 hour fasting figures can be misleading. If you don't eat at all, your liver can perform a "liver dump" of Glycogen to give you the glucose your body needs to keep you going. Whast is more important is your BG readings when you are eating. If you are on a sensible diet (most of us go on a reduced carb and low GI carb diet) and still get readings of 13 to 16 then you should go back to your doctor because your meds aren't doing the job they should. Have you tested just before a main meal and then 2 hours after with no snacks in between? If you have and can tell us those figures, along with what you ate, then we could possibly help more. None the less, your readings now are too high.

Thanks for the help guys .

I took an extra metformin before bed last night .

My reading was 11.9 before breakfast.
I had a couple of satsumas and for lunch
My reading at 4:00pm was 11.9

I had a veg stir fry for dinner

My reading as I write this is 11.8

I plan to do the same tomorrow .

Thanks for your help & the reading material

Peter .

Blood sugar 9.7 thismorning.

Weheyyy .

The metformin before bed and not eating as much fruit has definitely helped.

I've also lost 6" off my waist.
