Spikes are included in hba1c as hba1c is an average over the past 3 months, this is why when you record your 2hr readings & get an ESTIMATED hba1c the actual hba1c will be at a higher level, mine was 6 above my estimated, reason is cause your not recording high glucose levels that occur if your only record pre & 2hr post.
