Hi @Crazycatlady59 , welcome to the forum.Hi I'm Tracy, I got diagnosed with high cholesterol about 5/6 weeks ago, while waiting to pick up my second prescription I noticed my chemist did glucose test so had one done, it came up as 7.6 advised to speak to my Dr, tang then waited 3 days for a call, seems a recent blood test I had as part of a medication review threw up the cholesterol issue but my glucose came up at 3.9, I now have an appointment next week for a fasting test. After the phone call and being told if it was normal I could leave if high I would have to have a chat with someone, I bought a testing kit (sinocare) was getting readings in the 6 range, this morning it was 7.2. my concern is that if its in normal range on Friday I won't be seeing any Dr to discuss what is happening. My dad was diabetic my sister is prediabetic.
Hi, I had similar symptoms, waking up in the night and just felt generally groggy a lot of the time. Sometimes also feeling lightheaded… this started last year. I’ve realised lockdown wasn’t good for me, working at home, sat down too long at desk and bad eating habits, not eating lots, but all the wrong things and leaving until later in the eve. Last few months, I’ve cut my carbs by at least two thirds, and make up with salad and protein. I’ve lost weight, I’m not enormous btw, but was getting podgy! Now lost weight and feel so much better, I don’t weigh myself, but love handles less for sure and fit clothes I bought that didn't before, that’s my measure! I was getting worse but didn’t realise. Key for me is the the diet and then tests with doctors, loosing weight and regular check ups really help my confidence in getting better. I would in no way class myself as expert in diabetes, but my daughter has type 1 diabetes and I was onset type 2, but reversible, so have experience, looking forward to my next drs appointment and hopefully a lot better… ps also drink water regularly, I also cut down on caffeine, a lot, that made a huge difference for me as well, hope this helpsHi thank-you we had 3 cats but have 1 now. My last blood test was to do an organ check due to some medication I'm on (naproxen) longterm, I only got told the results about my cholesterol. Had to ask what the glucose one was when I had had the result for the chemist test. Speaking to my sister her Dr advised her to reduce her cargs by half, she is the keepfit and watches her diet most of the time, I'm usually the one that a wide variety of foods, I'm mostly active due to having 3 jobs and being on my feet. When i go for my test and if it comes up in normal range I know I won't see a Dr so my idea is after reading a few post on here is to do a diary and test as well as put what foods I eat and see if that throws up a pattern or improves/worsen, I think I will be having another blood test in about 6 weeks to see if my cholesterol is coming down. Have not seen a Dr at my surgery in over a year maybe longer it's mostly phone calls. I'm more concerned that I told them I sometimes getting lightheaded and feel like I'm going to fall or if I'm already walking I can veer and have to hold or lean on something nearby it's only like a split second or a few more until my head feels normal,, lost 7lbs and waking up in night for the loo or just randomly waking up. Been through a tough month and possibly not ate as well as I would but some symptoms I have had though they come and go have been happening longer, my aim is do the diary for the time up to the next blood test and get a clear picture before approaching the drs again
I'm actually underweight, have been since I had my last 2 children 26.27 years ago, buy going to 7.7 shocked me, a colleague has been saying for weeks I had lost and I was saying no as all my clothes fitted the same. I was lucky in a way once the education department sorted stuff out I was working as usual just harder lol, but my weekend job ended up with me being made redundant after furlough but I'm back there now. I never get hungry and not a morning eater so that dosent help but like yesterday I made the effort made porridge atecit, had a tiny dinner after student had their lunch then ate tea, I have resisted all my usual treats that I can pick up and puy down due to them being bad for my cholesterol, not a massive sweet eater only thing I'm cutting down now is my brews switching some to green tea and making less in the morningHi, I had similar symptoms, waking up in the night and just felt generally groggy a lot of the time. Hi, I have that even if I’m sitting down, so have asked my GP to see if it’s Vertigo as it’s been happening more over the last 3 wks. I think it’s the middle ear channel that’s having the problem as my sugars are fine and my recording of all tests, times with the types of meals I have have not shown up any specifics.Hi thank-you we had 3 cats but have 1 now. I have thought it may be that as have had it before but I have had like I crackling noise in the ear, a few days of putting some oil down the ear and massaging has usually sorted it out, this time nothing has changed so I'm looking at getting a eye test to rule that out, I should wear glasses for both distance and close but in my job its not practical to keep switching pairs I tried varivocals but couldn't get on with them,, Im short sighted one eye and long in the other. I use some glasses for reading small print but find myelf distracted by the frames.. then I get mad at myselfHi, I have that even if I’m sitting down, so have asked my GP to see if it’s Vertigo as it’s been happening more over the last 3 wks.
