It was about 7:30 am then about 9:30I some times finf the meter can give a completely strange reading then when you do another it is usual or lower
what time do you take the first reading
sometimes the first reading can be higher due to your liver kick starting everything by pushing out a load of glucose for energytarting It was about 7:30 am then about 9:30
Thanks for that info, didnt realisesometimes the first reading can be higher due to your liver kick starting everything by pushing out a load of glucose for energy
9.00 does seem rather late though
It was about 7:30 am then about 9:30
I think thats whats so confusing, if its not what im eating or lack of excercise then how can i control it and do i need to or is it just something i need to except and live with and does that mean going back to the doctorsAll those numbers look in the same ball park allowing for meter accuracy
Are the 2 hours later numbers 2 hours after you’ve eaten? If so then I’m not seeing anything out of the way. In fact they’re pretty good numbers to be back where you started or lower 2 hours after eating. Though they do seem to indicate you have some insulin resistance going on & your result of your blood tests saying that you are pre diabetic are most likely correct.
It’s not just what we eat that can affect our BG - there’s about 50 different things, including weather, lack of or too much sleep, low lying infections, stress, exercise or change in routine.
Sorry @Chris SeckerFasting 6.4, 6.2, 4.6, then today 7
2 hours later 6.6, 6.4, 5.2 then today 6.4
ok thanjs for that, all good advice cheersI definitely don’t want to rip it apart but….
Toast and banana for breakfast is likely to be raising your blood sugar. The rest sounds good. Try testing before and 2 hours after your normal breakfast, then the next day leave off the toast and banana and see if there is a difference.
Likewise naan and brown rice are likely culprits. Again testing will show you if it’s a problem for you.
Be aware that if you don’t want to lose any more weight you would need to add more protein and fat into your diet if you decide to reduce carbs.
If you have already made changes to your diet since your last test in February that may be enough to take you out of the prediabetic range. So I would ask your gP if they can repeat the test to see tge effect of your changes so far.
yes tgats rightSorry @Chris Secker
Can you just clarify that these numbers are befoe eating (fasting & the second lot of numbers are 2 hours after eating
Thanks
thats (sorry)yes tgats right
ok thank youJust a small point on blood sugar readings. Our blood sugars fluctuate minute by minute, day by day. They are never the same at any given time, as there are so many factors that influence blood sugar levels,
; sleep; food choices and compositions; hormone levels; physical activity; stressors; signalling between your liver and your pancreas; the time of day, immune responses that we may not to be aware of, even temperature and our general sense of well being. It’s complicated. Decisions are made regarding how well out bodies handle blood sugars are taken over time, as patterns emerge, for a reason.
Whether you reach the medical threshold for diabetes is measured over a three month period. Then it is tested again 3 months later .This allows for blood sugar patterns to emerge over time.
brill, thank you. My partner does cauliflower rice every now and again, i like it so happy to just switch, thanksnaan in general is fairly hefty in carbs. around 50g per 100g in weight.
https://www.asda.com/groceries/product/5498615?oldCo=true nutrician info on asda's brown rice - 39g per HALF PACK. so 78g carbs per 250g portion. . its 31g carbs per 100g
soon adds up.
could try switch: naan to keto variant this one is pretty decent: add some butter / garlic and corriandar still would be pretty low https://sugarfreelondoner.com/keto-naan-low-carb-flatbread/
rice: have you experimented at all with cauliflower rice? generally find a little tasteless however adding a little bit of fave herbs & spices
i'd try if possible to try switch one of those out with the curry.
