Hi everyone...it has been a while.
My last HBA1C was not great 8.9...up from 6.8 and I am currently on the maximum dosage of Metformin (slow release). I have changed my diet to low carb and exercise as often as I can. I have an appointment with the endocronologist on Monday morning with a refferal from my doctor recommending insulin therapy. I lost a lot of weight before I was first diagnosed (without even trying...YIPPEE) and have maintained a healthy weight since. The doctor told me that any of the "other" medications would cause weight gain and I don't want to go back there again!!! I am quite frankly a little scared and don't know what I should do. I have been treated as a type 2 but not been tested for LADA, should I ask for that test before starting insulin therapy?
My fasting levels first thing of a morning are between 12 and 14 and throughout the day are staying around those figures. It is a little depressing because 6 months ago I was maintaining between 7-9. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Went onto insulin myself about a month ago, best thing ever, much better then metformin ( for me anyway)
Bloods comming down fast now after being high for over 15 months.
I requested the 4 injections per day for better control. but I was diagnosed as Type2 and it turns out (after a test last month) that I am actually type 1.
