Hi all,
I've been struggling with getting my morning dose right. I take 6 units of Novorapid for 45g carb (toast and oats).
After breakfast my sugar can rise by around 6 mmol (from 6.5 to 13) and will go back down to about 8 around 3 hours after. But if I take 1 unit more novorapid, my sugar level will drop quickly and I'll have to eat 10g more to make sure I don't go low. This is confusing as 6 units seems to insufficient, but 7 units is too much.
It seems that the peak can be eliminated by one extra unit, but then blood sugar will drop afterwards, so it's like a rollercoaster, which is not a good system.
Any one have any idea what I could be doing wrong? Could the breakfast be eaten more slowly to reduce that peak. Or could porridge be bumping it up and dropping.
Thanks for your help!
Thomas
