Craving Carbs

Hello, newbie here. I'm 50 years old and due to my dad being T2 it appears he has passed it on to me. I'm on 40mg Simvastatin and have decided to lose about 2 stone. Low carb seems to be the way to go and so far i've managed to get rid of 16lb in 8 weeks.

OK, so i'm being really good and the weight is coming off at a steady rate, but no pasta, rice or spuds is doing my head in! I did a pasta sauce last night and following someones suggestion on here I made some courgette "spaghetti". It was tasty but not really filling. Anyway, I have the rest of the sauce for tonight so has anyone got any suggestions as to what I can have with it?

Hi Indianwells and welcome to the forum Here is some basic information put together by our former Monitors for new members. I see you are already into low carb so some of this information should come as no surprise to you but there are things in here I think you will find useful.

Also, have a look at this Low Carb Diet Forum which should give you plenty of suitable food ideas:

Try having a very small portion of whatever you fancy and test before and 2 hours afterwards. You might find you can eat some of these things in small quantities.

Thanks Daisy, my tester arrives tomorrow so i'll be joining the massed ranks! I really hope I can have at least small portions of wholewheat rice or pasta, it would make everything so much easier to adjust to!

I make bolognese sauce with a packet of mince, an onion, green pepper, tomatoes and herbs and olive oil, and let it cook down. The idea is to make it thick. I eat it topped with cheese in a bowl with a spoon.
