Help. Undiagnosed yet, seeing endo tomorrow.
Feeling very very ill, eating every two hours,
sweaty, lightheaded, unable to stand up, weakened,
confused, (checked ketones in urine, looks normal)
toxic abnormal hunger symptoms, etc..

Am eating chickpeas every two hours, helps a little,
will now try water with salt..anything else I can do to alleviate symtpoms?

Is there anything I can do till I see the endo tomorrow?

BTW, how can they differentiate between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and what tests would
differentiate?

Hi Quirky, if you are that unwell you should get yourself to a&e.

With no ketones in your urine I doubt the problem is high blood sugar.

Why are you seeing an endo tomorrow?
 
Because I have typical symptoms of diabetes,
and my blood sugar level spikes up, I kept a log,
sometimes up to 13 plus. Always 7 plus fasting in the morns..
and also, the heart failure has worsened, and horrid neuro pains, and
electrical shocks in the body.

I don't think doctors know enough about diabetes at this point, this is why so
many are dying. All I can say, is that if I don't eat every two hours, high protein
foods such as chickpeas etc... i feel as if am collapsing, and blood sugar level
goes up..
 
I don't think the horrible symptoms you describe are due to high bg level and if they are, stay off the chick peas and eat something less carby and higher in fat. Piece of cheese for example, no bread.

For how long have you had symptoms this bad? Have you an infection?

I don't say you haven't got diabetes, you probably have, but with bg up to 13 and no ketones in urine I shouldn't worry about bg. What about adrenal function?
 
About adrenal function, I didn't have to synacthen test, because I react to so many
pharmaceutical products, but yes, good point...any advice.
 
I have looked through some of your post on the forum and can see that you worry about diabetes. Your symptoms are general and your bg mostly normal so if I were you I would stop worrying about diabetes and start to research other possible causes. If you choose to do a bit of low carbing that would help with bg if you are concerned about it.

Synachten test is a good test. It tells if you adrenals are working but says nothing about your pituitary. How was your hypothyroidism diagnosed?

You come across as very worried. This may be counteractive when seeing HCPs so note down the major things you want to discuss, three issues at the outmost, they can rarely handle more than three, and present them as accurately as you can. If possible bring someone with you to help stay on track and take notes.

If they suggest you see someone psychological as in CBT therapist for example, go along with it. It is good to be evaluated and to have it on file you are psychosocially fine and if the therapist can help it is even better. It may help to get further testing.
 
The heat failure worsened? What did you mean by that?
 
My heart failure worsened, my GP phoned to say the BNP was over 600, that this carries a poor prognosis.
He is re referred me to an endo, re: diabetes or other, and autonomic neurologist, because my BP goes down
by more than 30 when standing up.

So, YES, I am worried. Plus I had acute coronary syndrome, and the docs said either a heart attack or
unstable angina.

My GP told me himself he is worried, I look as if I am near death's door, can no longer stand up for more
than a few minutes and the "diabetes" type of symptoms. I looked into that, and blood sugar level can go
up if you have adrenal failure, some type of nutritious deficiencies etc.. and as for diabetes, could be that too.

I just now spoke to a diabetic nurse (a friend of a friend). She worked as a diabetic nurse for over 30 years,
and she says, it could be diabetes, but it could be something else. That not all those in go in diabetic coma
have high high ketones, some do some don't, and that everyone is different, some may have no symptoms, others
severe symptoms, but blood glucose not very high and so forth.

She did say that some of her patients did have same symptoms as mine, others not, but the bottom line, is
that non tests are entirely reliable, and fluctuate.
 
You are a very long way from a diabetic coma so relax about bg. And low carbing relieves symptoms immediately, so go low carb if you are worried.

Your symptoms are a bit alarming though and I think you should ask for adrenal testing. The first step usually is the synacthen test. There is nothing sinister with the synthetic ACTH they administer so don't worry about that but rather about how to make them do other tests once the synachten comes back normal.

Have to say it sounds like it could be a problem with low blood pressure, ie happens when you stand up or change position, can also happen after eating .
Particularly if eating dense foods like chickpeas sound as if they would be. Could be your blood pressure medication or calcium channel blockers if you're on them might need adjustment.

Only your GP or other medical professional can get to the bottom of this, but if you keep insisting it's diabetes related then you might be misdirecting them and things are being overlooked.
 
Here goes: am not taking any heart meds, unable to metabolize.
Waiting for investigations for autonomic failure, adrenal failure, and diabetes.

\Diagnosed with POTS some years back, but now seems other autonomic
dysfunction, since upon standing it either drops by more than thirty or shoots up,
etc..

The endo I saw a few days reported that it could be diabetes, but could be something
else, and that a glucose challenge test is not that reliable either, can't always reproduce
spikes in blood sugar level. Then depending on cortisol level, will do the synacthen test.\

He was concerned because of strong indication of adrenal failure, and suggested a
morning cortisol blood test and the glucose challenge test.

Read that a blood cortisol level in the morning is as reliable as 24 hour urine and blood taken twice
during the day, once at midnight. ...

Had a back injury since posting, today is first time able to respond to emails, and posts etc..\

Get the cortisol test done as soon as possible! And good luck, the endo seems good. You never know with endos.

I must say what an odd phrase to give for describing your condition .. When I had my heart attacks and unstable angina I would have describe my condition as very sharp pains in my chest .. My doctor first said it was anxiety .. Only after my Coronary angiogram was I told of the heart attacks I had damaging my heart, and the unstable angina. So your doctor should have these results then he can say what's wrong with your heart not saying ... It's maybe .. Heart attack or angina or unstable angina ...

I am wondering as you are so worried about your health if you are indeed giving your self anxiety attacks .. Adding these to your other health problems you will be feeling very ill.

You also say that you think not enough is known about diabetes this is why so many are dying ..

You obviously fear death to the point of focusing on every thing that can cause it. If your not diabetic why are you testing ? A little word from someone who looked in the face of death 22 years ago when having heart attacks and unstable angina, then a bypass op that went wrong .. Don't fear death, it will come when it's ready. Try to enjoy every moment of every day that you have, focus away from pain or it will take over your life. Your doctors can test for conditions that you have, and treat with pills or surgery, but it's your choice to stress over every thing or to relax and not become overwhelmed with illness.
