Is it a big cut or a tiny one? Was it clean cut or could it have dirt/grit in it
Give it a good cool wash under running water making sure this removes any dirt. Dry by patting with a cloth then cover with plaster or dressing. Keep the dressing as clean as possible and change it daily, it should be ok if it's kept clean. If it becomes hot, inflamed or throbs ask the Pharmisist to check it for you
Did the bleeding stop?
I cut my toe a week ago.
Still hadn't clot by Friday so I went to the walk-in centre.
Over the years, I have had deep cuts and huge grazes /friction burns (slide tackling on AstroTurf is dumb) treated at walk-in centres.
Just tell them your diabetic. They'll understand your concern and that with delayed healing will come greater risk of infection and potential increase to your blood sugars.
Just keep it clean and covered until such times that it heals, lost count how many cuts I've had in the last 34 years of type 1 diabetes and rarely has one been infected, if it becomes painful & swollen then do see a nurse/gp.
