Hi - i wonder if you could give me a little advice? my daughter (10) has been a bit 'not herself' for about the last 2 months - sometimes just like normal and other times tired, sleepy, moany, headaches, joint pain etc. all a bit non specific but i took her to the drs last week and they did blood tests and we were called back to get a fasting blood test today and a urine sample as her glucose test had been higher than expected . i dipped her urine at home and it had protein in it but no sugar. she isn't drinking excessively or peeing excessively although she is up through the night now. my question is - am i right in thinking it is unlikely to be daibetes as she isn't showing the classic symptoms and does protein in urine have anything to do with diabetes? sorry if these questions are daft - i'm new to this!!! any help would be appreciated.

Hello Sam and welcome

Sorry to hear that your daughter is just not herself at the moment but glad to hear that you have taken her to the doctors and they have run tests. It won't be long untill the results from those tests are in so, in the meantime, just monitor and note everything that you feel would be helpful to the doctor.
Hope that everything improves for her very quickly - try not to worry too much as you have done the best you can at the moment.

All the best with your visit to the doctors. Protein in the urine can be a sign of many things - even just general illness. Being thirsty would be one of the biggest symptoms of diabetes. Hope you let us know how you get on.
