Well I take it from that that you'll have been diagnosed Type 2 so my experience will be highly different but I had no option but to cope, I was admitted to hospital to be diagnosed and was told I couldn't go home until I showed them I could inject myself, less than 24 hours after I was admitted I was sat at home facing a very new life of injecting myself at least 4 times a day and all a week before my 25th birthday, as a Type 1 I had no other option but insulin but if you start now in working on your diet and getting some more exercise then you may not need medication

What is a typical day of food to you?
Are you in a place where you could afford to self fund a BG meter? as chances are you won't be provided with one unless they put you on a medication that could cause low BG but testing your own BG is the only way to find what foods work for you as the individual you are
