Hi,I made a decision. I hope it's not the wrong one but I can't tolerate the circumstances anymore.
I decided to not use my basal or a basal insulin. I can't stand the hunger it causes.
I've asked for help from Dr's and others that help like cde's and such.
I know the risks I've been told and warned enough times.
I've done everything I can that was suggested but nothing helps.
I WILL not regain my nearly 60 pounds lost again.
Please wish me luck/pray or whatever your thing is.
What does that include?I've done everything I can that was suggested but nothing helps.
I used basaglar. And at a different time Lantus then toujeo. All forms of glargine tho.Hi,
What basal are you prescribed .? Is it just a basal you have been prescribed, or do you use a bolus insulin too?
Eating more meals/snacksWhat does that include?
ExerciseO and
Fasting
Drinking water before eating
I was only able to get as low as 50 grams of carbs a day not the 20. I'm not sure if I got into ketosis. I didn't know how to tell without the ketone sticks or whatever they are called.I congratulate you on trying so many things and on the weight loss! Being hungry all the time has to be difficult, so I understand wanting to get off the insulin. How low carb did you go when you tried it, and are you producing any insulin? The the thing about ketogenesis is the ketones reduce appetite, but carbs have to be quite low, and even protein has to be managed if using lean meat because the protein will convert to glucose and prevent ketogenesis. It should also require a lot less insulin. Simply going low carb without actually getting into ketosis may not have the same effect. If you've already achieved ketosis for certain then I apologize for beating a dead horse.
What were the reasons you couldn't go lower? I assume you weren't feeling well in some way?I was only able to get as low as 50 grams of carbs a day not the 20. I'm not sure if I got into ketosis. I didn't know how to tell without the ketone sticks or whatever they are called.
I couldn't figure another way to get the Fibre I needed and I wasn't just needing Fibre because they recommend the 30 grams I really needed more. Plus when I tried keto I had trouble getting the fat in. Sometimes I thought it was too gross. What were the reasons you couldn't go lower? I assume you weren't feeling well in some way?
Lol, I understand you on that, I'm not crazy about added fat either. Fattier cuts of meat work pretty well if you're not vegan or vegetarian, I prefer that over pouring butter or olive oil over everything and drinking cream (I do like tree nuts, but I have my limits). I've seen some good recipes using cream cheese which I imagine gets some fat in without seeming fatty, but I'm still getting my keto diet straightened out and have mostly done meat and salads. I seem to do pretty will in terms of fiber by eating lots of vegetables, but there's always psyllium husk and resistant starch if you don't seem to get enough from diet. There's actually people doing carnivore (only meat, no vegetables) who seem to do well with no plant fiber, but it is an extreme approach.Plus when I tried keto I had trouble getting the fat in. Inflammation and pain can cause your BG to rise. And despite barely eating for 72 hours due to horrendous pain in my gallbladder my glucose levels are still high,
