I went to get a dietbetes test today cos my husband had been nagging me for about a month because of the way I have been feeling. I put it down to depression but he kept moaning at me cos I am constantly filling my pint glass with fluids and been suffering bad migraines. I've always suffered with migraines but they've always left me craving sugary things and sweet tea. I have been known to pass out during migraines. My vision is blurred all the time and am finding I'm wearing my glasses more as for night time visits to the bathroom well less sleep more peeing as hubby says. All I'm asking is my test come in as result of scoring at 6 today. Am returning to docs tomorrow for anoter test. Ive been reading on the Internet as what to do. One site is saying a 6 is normal and another is saying it's not. Can anyone help clear my mind please x
6 is a normal reading for blood sugar. I wish you all the best getting some help from a doctor as nobody can really help you with your problem. I gather you have had an eye test to see if that is the cause of your problem. You may have even had a very low blood sugar that your body did not correct quickly enough so if you had a home test it would be worth checking it when you are feeling the worst.
Severe migraines are not uncommon and from what little I know they can be hard to treat or find a cause.
Sorry you haven't had many replies, it is just that without knowing exactly what blood test was done it is a difficult question to answer.
For instance a fasting blood of 6 is on the highside for normal but not quite diabetic, a HbA1c fo 6 is not normal and a post food reading of 6 could be normal.
I am a type 2 like your profile says you are and I would be happy with a 6 at my fasting test although I would like it to be in the 5s, 6 before a meal for me is a bit high too but 6 after the meal is OK for me. We are all different though as you will hear many times on here! Let's hope you turn out to not be diabetic, or pre-diabetic.
A fasting blood test of 6 for blood sugar is good. Any BS fasting result between 5 to 7 is good and 6 is a good thing mine was 6.2 and the Diabetic Nurse was very pleased.
There are other things that give you the conditions you discribe but it it is only your doctor that can tell you what is happening. You could ask for a Glucose tolerance test from your doctor.
Some of the things that you say are happening do imply diabetics but as said above there are other things that have simlar things to them. As you are going to the doctors for further test until you get them its best to wait and see. You are obviously very anxious and I don't blame you but also if you are drinking a lot of water this could result in the peeing in the night. What time do you have your last drink in the evening. Plus a lot of salt can make you thirsty.
What and when are you eating - I spoke to my doctor about feeling shaky and wobbly sometimes when I haven't eaten or I have been late getting lunch or something and she said she sometimes gets that way through not eating or being late with eating most people do. This was a long time before being diagnosed as DB type 2.
There are also some foods that contribute to migraine.
Try not to speculate as to what you have and see if your test reveal more. If your like me I always forget to say what I want to say to the doctor and people advise making notes but then I forget to get the notes out!!
I wish you well and sorry that none of us can advise on your condition we are not doctors and only he/she can do this - but don't worry 6 is normal.
