Type 1 Dentist

It depends what your exception card is for? If it's for earnings under a certain amount per year then probably. If it's because of diabetes, then you'll only qualify for prescriptions I think.

I live in Scotland and our system is different.

You should find your answer somewhere in here:

can I use my nhs exception card for the dentist?
If the exemption is just for medication then no if you are on benefits (IR) then yes you can.

Edited to clarify. The card is for meds exemption not dentist but if on certain benefits then you can tick the relevant box on the forms at the dentist and show proof of entitlement to receive free treatment.

If on certain benifits, you can get dentist free. If on low income, you pay for the treatment, then ask the dentist for a form to claim the money back
That's not correct Ally, You sign the form at the dentist and show proof of low income or benefits and no money is handed over. Obviously if you make a fraudulent claim you are in big trouble.

Sorry that I, m in the wrong. However about 10 years ago, I was on a low income and I got a form from the dentist to fill in and send away to get refunded what I had paid for treatment. Things do change over the years
