Depressed about type 2

Yes it gets me down at times, I used to jump out of bed in a morning full of life now I am thank full for getting out of be to another day chuckles

I cried when I was diagnosed. I started reading on the Internet, but found the bad news overload totally overwhelming. I felt hard done by because I had already lost a lot of weight, like you and there's no history of diabetes in my family. Practice nurses can be real bullies and they act like they know everything and don't like patients who do research. I always take the attitude that my health is more important than their ego and if they go home with ruffled feathers that's not as bad as giving me wrong advice.

The most important thing, to avoid complications, is to try to keep blood glucose lower and stable. My personal view is that since T2 is progressive, I aim to be on as few drugs as pos for as long as poss because I may need them later. That's why I'm getting even more into LCHF.

I had counselling for something else and talked about my diabetes too. That really helped. You might be able to get it via GP. I had counseling from a charity and paid £10 pw but if I had been on benefits it would have been free.
