Hi everyone. I hope everyone is doing well. About a year i got Dexcomm G4 Platinum for my daughter. She is 1 and a half now. Recently i noticed something weird happened to device. About every 3 or 4 days i got ??? sign. I had to stop sensor and start again, but this takes me about 2 hours to synchronize with transmitter.
Does anyone uses Dexcomm G4 Platinum. If yes, does this happens to you ?
I am thinking to take off Dexcomm for maybe 2 weeks so my daughters skin can rest some days. Maybe this is the cause of problem, i don't know.
If you are using the transmitter that you got about a year ago, it's likely that it is running low on battery and needs replacing. That is often the cause of frequent ???. It's also possible the Receiver battery is getting towards the end of its life, although you normally get a warning of that.
I've heard it's sometimes caused by dehydration. Or if she is wearing synthetic clothing it may be causing a problem. If you are on Facebook there is a page called Dexcom where people discuss these types of problems.
I occasionally have this issue, but I have the G5 system and the problem is always caused by interference from other Bluetooth signals in my house.
The G4 system uses a RF signal (I believe) and shouldn't have as many issues
Also, I've occasionally had the same error message when the sensor wire didn't stay in my subcutaneous fat and instead hit my muscle. It's not a pleasant feeling so I'd imagine your daughter wouldn't be in a very good mood if this were the case.
This does happen with some of my sensors, I usually leave it for up to an hour and try to get my pump nearer to the sensor, because it is a communication problem. More often than not it will sort itself out, if it keeps happening and it's within the guarantee, I report it and get it replaced.
