Diabetes and CFS

Hi all

After suffering with Lyme Disease and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, I was ambulanced to hospital just before Christmas with suspected diabetes as I was worse than usual and I was in pain. ambulance was spot on cardiograph, good news I have a great heart bad news was they couldn't check my sugars as they were off the scale on the blood tester they had, weird as I had a full medical with blood tests and a full service 2 weeks previous and all was well

In hospital (Derriford in Plymouth who I cannot praise enough for the care they gave me) I was put on drips to bring my level down, eventually after 5 days they got it down to 20 ish and released me, for home care etc, Derriford have very experienced Diabetes nurses who call me every few days who are great, and they are at the end of a phone if I need help

It seems that a pancreas problem (Zollinger Ellison) I had 15 years ago which needed op to my pancreas has raised its head again and my pancreas has just stopped working, how lucky can I really be

So now at home suffering with CFS and Diabetes I am settling into my new life, after all this is again life changing to me not life ending, in fact I feel that if everything hasn't killed me so far I must be immortal and live forever,,, and so far I have

If there is anyone else out there with CFS and Diabetes I would love to hear how you manage it or don't manage

Also since Diabetes my taste is weird, meat tastes off and smells seem very mixed up, anyone have that problem ?

I wish all of you good health and best wishes

Hi @thearcher ,
Sorry to hear of your hospitalization, but glad you have come through it well. I would like to ask you about your CFS a bit more, but another time. I've been on the computer for a couple of hours tonight and I'm getting a bit square-eyed.
All the best for now.

Hi again @thearcher
I wondered if it was the Lyme Disease that led to the onset of CFS.
You seem quite upbeat. That alone is going to help you cope a bit better. Do you find you perk up in warmer weather?
Take care!
