Type 2 Diabetes and Dentists

Hi

I recently had a tooth extraction my second in a few years and both times have had compilations after mainly Periodontal Abscess.

Should UK dentists be treating Diabetics more cautiously,

Thoughts?
 
It's more likely the higher level of sugars in your mouth that first cause the need for abstraction and then delay or impede healing.
Blaming the dentist is like shutting the door long after the horse has bolted.

I'm not a dentist but my oral hygiene and dental issues are much improved since cutting out sugars in all forms as much as I can

Short answer is yes. I recently had an implant which did not take well. When I told my dentist that I was prediabetic he said that when he redoes the implant, he will treat it differently and that I should take antibiotics after the procedure.
 
I went to have my teeth cleaned recently and the hygenist said my back teeth were losing their connection to bones which scares me a lot because she said there is a risk of infections .It seems like I have my diabetes under control( pre -diabetes level) and I brush regularly. I don't eat much sugar.i didn't tell the hygenist I have pre-diabetes.

Did the hygienist take an x ray to see that, or are your back teeth wobbling enough to see that? All sounds strange. I have changed dentist 4 times in the last 10 months and now i have found a really good one. Least said the better about the previous, but you learn a lot!
